When Meghan Markle marries Prince Harry all eyes will be on the dress. She might go for the classic royal look of a ball gown skirt, which has been a bit feature on the catwalks. Va-va-volume, tons of tulle and layers make a bold statement worthy of a princess.

More and more brides are choosing to change their dresses part way through the day. This is especially useful if you want to bust a move on the dance floor and opt for a shorter, freer dress that allows you really relax.
- Minimalism
Does your heart yearn for something understated? Then the modern minimalist is for you. With classic necklines and more structured fabrics the chic, understated look focuses on less fuss and more elegance.
A statement cape
Mix it up and go for a cape instead of the traditional train or veil. Long, midi, or mini capes have been all over the Bridal Fashion Week runways and give you a chance to channel your inner Snow White as you say, “I do”.

The blush trend gets even better with dresses featuring on the catwalk in varying shades of pink and nude. From hot pink and peach it just goes to show that the days of a bride having to wear white are long gone.
- Monochrome
If color doesn’t float your boat then take a leaf out of Vera Wang’s stylebook and add a touch of monochrome with an embellishment like her enlarged black flowers. Or even try long black gloves, a black belt or a simple black ribbon round the waist to try this trend.
- Legs out
You don’t have to go all out with a teeny-tiny skirt. But if you’ve got the legs for it then try some of the mini wedding dresses and shorts that made an appearance on the catwalk. Perhaps better for a summer wedding, but definitely a different take on the wedding dress.
- Off the shoulder
Shoulders remain a key feature to be shown off with designers creating dresses with detached sleeves. The split sleeves or detach sleeves add an element of surprise and you can take detach the sleeves to create a totally different look – giving you two looks for the price of one.
Bows
Bows have been in the spotlight for a few seasons now. Designers have added them onto the sleeves and shoulders of the wedding dresses, showing this traditional bridal embellishment can work for a variety of styles. And if you are feeling especially confident try an oversized bow accent at the back or front of dresses.
- Suits you
Turn heads with a jumpsuit or pants separates. Usually only seen at chic city weddings, this trend is sure to be popular with more and more brides this year. Make the most of this Bianca Jagger–inspired style and you are sure to turn heads.
