Halloween used to be fun-filled for the kids only, but today it’s one of the most popular and widely celebrated holidays by the young and old alike.
On all hallows eve, many of us enjoy dressing up, watching scary movies, and catching those retro-vibes by doing activities that remind us of our childhoods (bobbing for apples anyone?). This year Halloween falls on a Tuesday, so why not make it even more enjoyable by celebrating with your work family?

Celebrating Halloween at work appeals to the kid in all of us, and can help to motivate your team and promote team-bonding. Madison Realtor threw an awesome Halloween party for their staff. The holiday isn’t connected to any particular religion, so it’s super inclusive and fun for all!

  1. Halloween Costume Party

Whether your festivities are going to be in work only, or continue on into the evening, everyone loves an excuse to get dressed up! The theme can be kept simple, or made more elaborate (often depending on the nature of your work), and the photos are excellent for sharing on social media.

Encourage more employees to get involved by hosting a contest with some prizes up for grabs. It’s best to have multiple award categories so more employees get rewarded for joining in with the fun. How about best costume, funniest costume, and costume that took the most time to make? Or make it more special and add our new Mirror Photo Booth and the best pic wins!

  1. Halloween Treats

Get creative in the kitchen (or buy in!) some Halloween-themed treats such as pumpkin pie, apple pie, and decorated buns. Encourage staff to eat together, and enjoy the atmosphere.

  1. Halloween Karaoke

If your work culture is sociable and encourages employees to spend time together outside of working hours, you might want to host a Halloween-themed Karaoke night, or attend one in your local area. We provide Karaoke services to a range of local venues, so check out events listing nearer the time to see what’s on near you.

  1. Halloween Decorations

Most employees will love to get involved in decorating the office, reception area, or a designated space in the workplace. From balloons, to streamers, to ghastly ghoul ornaments, there are a range of ways to bring some colour to the holiday.

  1. Halloween Trivia

If your team aren’t extroverted singing sensations, instead of a Halloween Karaoke, they may prefer a Halloween-themed Trivia Night! Mix the teams up so people from different departments, who don’t usually get to work together, are paired up in teams, and watch the friendly competitiveness take off! Events like this are great for building stronger relationships and good rapport back in the workplace too. Check out the events section of our website for Trivia Night locations, dates, and times or we can host one for you!

  1. Pumpkin Carving & Bobbing for Apples

For nostalgic activities that are lots of fun, try pumpkin carving and bobbing for apples. Shutting one hour early will allow employees’ children to join in, and give the holiday a sense of occasion. Bobbing for apples is sure to bring a few laughs, and make for a memorable day.

  1. Give Back

If community is a strong ethos in your company values, you might want to research some local events and activities that your company can sponsor, or your employees are permitted to take some time off to contribute to. For example, a fair at a local school, or giving out treats at a local care centre.
